Located southeast of China, the Island nation of Taiwan has an interesting history. Officially called the Republic of China, Taiwan has a strange relationship with the PRC. Taiwan is democratic and pro-Western. China claims that Taiwan is a of the PRC. This divergence and distrust has meant that Taiwan has been arming itself, and it shows. For a nation of 24 million, Taiwan's military is massive. Though it must be mentioned that out of the 1.8 million personnel only 165,000 are active.
Population: 23.8 million
Defence Budget: 13.1 billion
Total Personnel: 1,822,00
The Republic of China Army (ROCA) is somewhat bizarre. Of all developed nations it has the oldest fleet of tanks. With M41s, M48s and M60s it is strange that they haven't moved on, especially with a respectable defence budget of 10 billion. CM-32s are the best vehicles in the ROCA. Soon a replacement will be found for the 7000 Humvees (which lack armour). The ROCA has a surprisingly high amount of SPGs and other artillery. Overall the ROCA has a lot of firepower yet most of its vehicles are obsolete.
The Republic of China Air Force (ROCAF) is a medium sized air force. It has a respectable amount of fighter jets. The majority of which are F-16s, followed by F-CK-1s which are Taiwanese made F-16 derivatives. There are also a number of Mirage 2000s and F-5s. all in all the ROCAF is fairly strong.
Armed UAVs: 0
Attack Helicopters: 91
The Republic of China Navy (ROCN) has a total of 117 vessels. Including 4 destroyers, 22 frigates, 1 corvette and 4 submarines. As an Island nation which is near China, its navy is the first line of defence. Among the best ships in the ROCN is the Kang Ding-class frigates. Perhaps the star of the ROCNs future, the Tuo Chiang-class stealthy corvettes could cause headaches for the PLA Navy. Currently there is one in service. A total of 12 are planned.
Total Vessels: 117
