The Egyptian Armed Forces is arguably the largest military in the Middle East. Acquiring thousands of weapons from both eastern and western nations and with a huge amount of personnel due to conscription, the Egyptian military is impressive on paper.
Population: 102 million
Defence Budget: 11.2 billion
Total Personnel: 910,000
With a combined total of over twenty thousand land systems, the Egyptian Army is huge. Egypt has the second largest fleet of M1 Abrams, however without the depleted uranium armour Egypt's base model M1A1s are not comparable to the ones operated by the USA.
The Egyptian Air Force has combat jets from Russia, France and the United States. The most notable being MIG 29Ms, Dassualt Mirages and F-16s. Though this may sound good in theory it means that the air force will have fighter pilots who can't operate other fighter jets. It also means that friendly fire is much more likely. It should be mentioned that the Egyptian Air Force loses multiple fighter jets per year due to maintenance and training deficiencies.
Armed UAVs: 28
Attack Helicopters: 81
The Egyptian Navy is the largest in the Mediterranean in terms of total vessels. Its heavy fleet consists of two Mistral class LHDs, eight submarines, seven frigates and seven corvettes. With a large number of missile boats, the Egyptian Navy aims to drown its opponents with its numbers. This strategy of utilising missile boats rather than larger vessels is an emulation of the Israeli naval doctrine. The Egyptian Navy just like its other branches, has an impressive array of equipment from many different suppliers. It remains to be seen how effective this concoction will be in a conflict.
Total Vessels: 316
Carriers and LHDs: 2
Has two LHDs
Training is very bad
Lack of coordination
Equipment derived from different countries does and will cause issues with training, maintenance and prevention of friendly fire/friend-foe identification.
